BRIEF

Create a new main bedroom extension incorporating a bedroom, private lounge, bathroom and walk-in robe, with each space feeling connected while still serving its own function.

For this new main suite extension, the aim was to create a private retreat that felt generous, connected and distinctly separate from the rest of the home. The extension was conceived as a self-contained sanctuary, with the bedroom, lounge, bathroom and dressing areas connected by a consistent design language.

A calm contemporary base gives the bolder elements room to breathe, while warm timber, black detailing and oversized botanical pattern add personality throughout.

The lounge area is simple and understated. Low-profile furniture keeps the space open and allowing the garden and pool views to do most of the work.

The timber sliding door becomes a feature in its own right, adding warmth, texture and a more crafted element to the room.

The enclosed verandah becomes the playful counterpoint to the calmer bedroom and lounge, using oversized botanical wallpaper to give the narrow space scale and personality. Woven pendants and exposed timber keep it relaxed and connected to the garden setting.

The bathroom carries the same mix of warm timber, dark detailing and bold pattern through from the rest of the suite. The bold botanical wallpaper continues into the bathroom as an unexpected counterpoint to the cleaner, more neutral finishes. A long double vanity gives the bathroom generous storage and surface space, while the simple counter top basins keep the overall look light.

Full-height cabinetry in the walk in robe makes the most of the narrow footprint, while black detailing and the botanical wallpaper stop the space from feeling purely utilitarian.
